Paddle Home Poem
Lions Gate Folly

by Betty Masson - July 2004

We see the bridge and power under
Waves all topsy - we're asunder !
Panic - none
Lots of sun

Friendly crew
Swamped canoe
Rescue quick
Drawbridge slick

Friends are dripping
after dipping
Chilled but well
Hearts do swell

Circled in the warmth of prayer
Blessings for our need to share
Humbled by our lack of plan
Conditions now we wisely scan

Picnic on the swimming raft,
Tourists looking like we're daft,
Bellys full from Caper's fare
We pull away from West Van's care

Pulling hard and smooth and strong
'Pull together' is our song
Home at last as setting sun
Welcomes us with everyone.
